You Can Still Rock in America
This week's Take Me Back Tuesday from The Music Memoirs:
In honor of Memorial Day in the US, all these questions relate to American artists.
1. List your three favorite American artists, with songs by each.
Toto - Stranger In Town
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Rocket Scientists - Oblivion Days
2. List three songs with the word 'America' or 'American' in them.
"American Pie" - Don McLean
"Calling America" - ELO
"America" - Neil Diamond
3. List three influential American songwriters.
Lowell Mason - He composed over 1000 hymns, including "Nearer, My God, To Thee"
Stephen Foster - Also very prolific. Unfortunately, as pointed out by Squirrel Nut Zippers, Camptown Ladies never sang all the doo-dah day.
Jimmy Buffett - Hey, 20 million parrotheads can't be wrong!

The Squirrel Nut Zippers mention makes me happy, but that could partially be generated by the package that arrived today. I now have the Squirrel Nut Zippers music folio. I've wanted that book for five years now. It was nice to be able to put that desire to rest.

Yeah, I never really got into Bruce. Probably for the same reason I never got into Dylan, Petty, or Joe Cocker. You've got to admit, none of them have the greatest voice(s) on the planet.

...whatever that language might have been.
