"Socialism"?
I am surprised not even a little bit at the large number of people who are using the current situation as an opportunity to educate people they consider less educated than themselves of the dangers of "socialism".
To such people I have only one thing to say: When that $1,200 government check arrives in a few weeks, I hope you will have the moral courage to put your money where your mouth is and mail it back. If you don't think the government has the authority to ask you to act in the public interest, then there's certainly no moral justification to keep that government's money.
Better yet, give the money to somebody who needs it. A homeless shelter. A hospital. A food bank. One of the most fervent arguments against "socialism" is that the private sector should take care of the needs of the poor and needy. Well, now's your chance.
Do some good. Make a difference instead of making an argument.
